Tottenham Hot Spur - Carling League Cup Champions 2007/2008

A glorious night for all Spurs fan around the world (myself included) a 9 year long wait was over in swaggering style.

The Carling Cup 2 - 1 win against the might of Chelsea is a befitting result which epitomize the astute tactical strength of Juande Ramos and the new winning mentality that this new Spurs regime seems to be fed day in day out since Ramos took over the manager's seat 5 month ago.

It took Ramos a shorter time to win his first silverware with Spurs then he was the boss of Sevilla where he won two straight EUFA Cup titles. Now, Spurs players have the belief that they too can achieve anything under the guidance of Senor Ramos.

The night of the Final, Ramos played his best 11 and it paid off well

Paul Robinson had a good outing after been left out of the team for 10 match before the 1-1 draw with Slavia Prague. Drogba's goal was unstoppable, I believe Paul had his wall in place perfectly but Keano move slightly to the right just after Drogba took the kick which pass him and into the bottom left corner. If Keano hadn't move it would not have been a goal.

The back for f Hutton, Woodgate,King and Chimbonda was solid. The partnership of Woodgate and King is the best Spurs have had since a long time. Hutton subdued Anelka well while Chimbonda had Wright-Phillips in his pocket all the way untill he was subsituted by Huddlestone.

In the middle Zokora was immense, he was in my opinion the fittest in terms of stamina that we have it just that I hope he will train harder towards his finishing, he could have killed the game off twice if he had the finishing touch that off Berbatov. JJ had a quiter but assured night, his overall performance stamp the approval to being selected into the Englad squad, held the ball well toward the end as Spurs hold n for the win. Lennon had a game of two halves, he was surprisingly non involve during the majority of the first half but in the second he was the live wire of the team and a thorn for the Chelsea defense, especially Belleti and Carvalho who had a torrid time against the quickest winger in the EPL. Malbranque deserver a call up to the French national team after this, a winners attitude every moment of the game.

Keano, there is only one Keano, his desire and passion to win the cup was felt by fans all around the world, for King to raise the cup together with him showed how much he have conributed to the team, he was absolutely immense during the game. Spurs is of course very very lucky to have Berbatov as its Striker in chief, Berba strikes fear in the hearts of any defender, his cool headedness when he took the spot kick was a classy and he I believe believe that Spurs can achieve more and he wants to win more with Spurs.

The substitute that came in , Huddlestone (he force the error by Bridge for the penalty), Tainio ( did very well even though off position playing at left back ) and Kaboul (added aerial strength to the back after waves of attack by Chelsea in seeking to force a draw) all contributed immensely to the win.

Overall, deserving winners, deserving Carling Cup Champions..My Spurs..Glory Glory Tottenham Hotspur

The Singapore S-League season Kick Off Soon

The long awaited S-League season is kicking in February 2008..12 team vying for the top spot..latest team to join is the Chinese Football Giants..DALIAN SHINGDE FC..

DALIAN is a well respected team in Asia..the likes of Sun Jihai (Manchester City) and Dong FangZhou (Manchester United) hails from this strong Chinese side.

With the previous Chinese team Liaoning GuangYuan's debacle on corruption and match mixing..DALIAN's objective should not be just to try and win the title..but to restore the country's reputation in footballing terms.

The season..looks to be intriguing and with the likes of Successful clubs like DALIAN in the fray..it looks really promising for the Singapore local league to take off in style.

World Player Of The Year

Kaka of AC Milan and Brazil was voted as being the World Player of the Year 2007 over Lione Messi (BarcelonA) and Ronaldinho (Manchester United)

I think Kaka deserves this accolade as much as anyone with his sporting profesional attitude and achievements at International as well as Club Level ( AC Milan just won the World Club Cup in Japan recently).

So.. Congratulations to him..and may world football continues to produce real profesional stars like him..Viva la Kaka

Sporting Discipline Above everything else

I cannot help myself but to say that I am totally appalled by the decision to Ban Noh Alam Shah for a year from active local sanction football and a 2 grand fine.. I seriously think he do not deserve such harsh penalties for his blatant rash act in the final of the Singapore Cup towards a fellow Singaporean teammate in Daniel Bennet..

As a soccer and sport fan.. I think he deserve a MORE HARSHER penalty.. He should not be allowed to play football anymore anywhere..for life..why? There is no excuse for what he did..as a professional sportsman and have hundreds of children idolize him..what he did was stupid and that he sent the kind of negative message to the sport fraternity as a whole..is disgusting

I do not judge and I do not make assumption..but as a sports person myself..I believe what he was given was too lenient indeed.. No Sports person should be forgiven for unsporting (and for his case thuggish) behaviour...

It is really sad..a true talent like Noh Alam Shah can bring shame to not only himself but soccer in general.

MySpurs EPL Review Away Game4 vs Man U

A real tough test for Jol and his men..My verdict a 5 star performance by the spurs team.To lose by a solidatary (but stunning shot) goal by Nani..is really nothing to be ashamed of...Kudos to Jol for sticking by the beautiful game tactics that all spurs fans love.

On the hindside, I hope Robinson should work hard on his positioning entowards the long shot to goal..too often ..he was caught off guard..be it in the EPL as well as International football..it dampens he's sure footed performance today..nevertheless..a trustworthy pair of hands.

We definitely need more bite in midfield too..Jenas and huddlestone is technically gifted.but need to work on their tenacity and engine room.

Here are my ratings for this match

Robinson - 7
Chimbonda - 7
Rocha - 7
Gardner - 7
Lee Yong Pyo - 6
Malbranque - 6
Jenas - 6
Huddlestone - 6
Bale - 7
Keane - 6
Berbatov - 6

Sub used

Taarabt - 6
Defoe - 5
Zokora - 5

My Player of The Match - Gareth Bale
Overall Team Rating = 6.5

MySpurs EPL Review Away Game 1 vs Sunderland

Frustrating is and understatement to describe how I felt after this 1-0 loss to a determined side that is of Sunderland..aAAARRRGHHH!!

Nevertheless..my thoughts are that it was not a game that gave a clear winner for over 93 minutes. Cannot take away the good last push from the Black Cats 5 million pound striker Chopra for the goal...that really hurts..the last kick of the match..it was almost scripted...Keane's (Roy) was deservingly lucky..but I dont see them as a quality team that will be in the top 10 come next May.

Back to Spurs..Good passing game strategy of Jol..bacfires..again..not by anything else...but just poor concentration..in the last 5 minutes that killed us.Spurs simply did not Gel..The Central pairing of Kaboul..n Gardner..is very average..Kaboul impress me a little with his forays in attack..but he clearly lacks match fitness n speed..Gardner..as usual..played a seemingly to relax n clumsy at times..his clumsiness n poor judgement let to the goal by Chopra. Stalteri did well on the left..for untill the hour mark..where his poor fitness was apparent..exploited well by Sunderland..Chimbonda..had a more easier task..I just hope he could contribute more going forward. Our midfield was fine in the beginning..Malbranque, Zokora, Jenas and Tainio..was tenaciously industrious..again only till the hour mark..the only thing that was evidently lacking was the creativity..this I believe going to be our main problem this season..we lack a decent playmaker in the middle of the park..Huddlestone..could fit that role..but he again is still raw and showed bits of immaturity in his defensive play. For the strikers..apart from Keano..who is lively..but tonight none of them was effective enough..there was no hunger to win in the body language of the strikers..Berbatov..seems still in practice match mood..Bent came in with vigour..but died off almost instantly..Defoe..was not given space and support.

The only positive thing I can think off from this match is that it is still just the 1st match of the season..37 to go..and if we can wake up and learn from this..the earlier the team should realize it is going to b a long hard season..My take is ..on wednesday.. Jol should decide on his main strike pair and stick to them...I suggest having Berbatov and Defoe upfront..pull Keane back as a creative midfielder in front of Zokora and Tainio in the middle..play a 3 central defense formation the likes of Kaboul,Rocha n Gardner..plus 2 wingbacks in Bale n Chimbonda working the flanks hard.
