Now, Spurs players have the belief that they too can achieve anything under the guidance of Senor Ramos.

The night of the Final, Ramos played his best 11 and it paid off well

Paul Robinson had a good outing after been left out of the team for 10 match before the 1-1 draw with Slavia Prague. Drogba's goal was unstoppable, I believe Paul had his wall in place perfectly but Keano move slightly to the right just after Drogba took the kick which pass him and into the bottom left corner. If Keano hadn't move it would not have been a goal.

The back for f Hutton, Woodgate,King and Chimbonda was solid. The partnership of Woodgate and King is the best Spurs have had since a long time. Hutton subdued Anelka well while Chimbonda had Wright-Phillips in his pocket all the way untill he was subsituted by Huddlestone.

In the middle Zokora was immense, he was in my opinion the fittest in terms of stamina that we have it just that I hope he will train harder towards his finishing, he could have killed the game off twice if he had the finishing touch that off Berbatov. JJ had a quiter but assured night, his overall performance stamp the approval to being selected into the Englad squad, held the ball well toward the end as Spurs hold n for the win. Lennon had a game of two halves, he was surprisingly non involve during the majority of the first half but in the second he was the live wire of the team and a thorn for the Chelsea defense, especially Belleti and Carvalho who had a torrid time against the quickest winger in the EPL. Malbranque deserver a call up to the French national team after this, a winners attitude every moment of the game.

Keano, there is only one Keano, his desire and passion to win the cup was felt by fans all around the world, for King to raise the cup together with him showed how much he have conributed to the team, he was absolutely immense during the game. Spurs is of course very very lucky to have Berbatov as its Striker in chief, Berba strikes fear in the hearts of any defender, his cool headedness when he took the spot kick was a classy and he I believe believe that Spurs can achieve more and he wants to win more with Spurs.

The substitute that came in , Huddlestone (he force the error by Bridge for the penalty), Tainio ( did very well even though off position playing at left back ) and Kaboul (added aerial strength to the back after waves of attack by Chelsea in seeking to force a draw) all contributed immensely to the win.

Overall, deserving winners, deserving Carling Cup Champions..My Spurs..Glory Glory Tottenham Hotspur

<img SHINGDE FC..

DALIAN is a well respected team in Asia..the likes of Sun Jihai (Manchester City) and Dong FangZhou (Manchester United) hails from this strong Chinese side.<br country's reputation in footballing terms.

The season..looks to be intriguing and with the likes of Successful clubs like DALIAN in the fray..it looks really promising for the I seriously think he do not deserve such harsh penalties for his blatant rash act in the final of the Singapore Cup towards a fellow Singaporean teammate in Daniel Bennet..

As a soccer and sport fan.. I think he deserve a MORE HARSHER penalty.. He should not be allowed to play football anymore anywhere..for life..why? There is no excuse for what he did..as a professional sportsman and have hundreds of children idolize him..what he did was stupid and that he sent the kind of negative message to the sport fraternity as a whole..is disgusting

I do not judge and I do not make assumption..but as a sports person myself..I believe what he was given was too lenient indeed.. No Sports person should be forgiven for unsporting (and for his case thuggish) behaviour...

It is really sad..a true talent like Noh Alam Shah can bring shame to not only himself but soccer in general.

MySpurs EPL Review Away Game4 vs Man U

A real tough test for Jol and his men..My verdict a 5 star performance by the spurs team.To lose by a solidatary (but stunning shot) goal by Nani..is really nothing to be ashamed of...Kudos to Jol for sticking by the beautiful game tactics that all spurs fans love.

On the hindside, I hope Robinson should work hard on his positioning entowards the long shot to goal..too often ..he was caught off guard..be it in the EPL as well as International football..it dampens he's sure footed performance today..nevertheless..a trustworthy pair of hands.

We definitely need more bite in midfield too..Jenas and huddlestone is technically gifted.but need to work on their tenacity and engine room.

Here are my ratings for this match

Robinson - Cannot take away the good last push from the Black Cats 5 million pound striker Chopra for the goal...that really hurts..the last kick of the match..it was almost scripted...Keane's (Roy) was deservingly lucky..but I dont see them as a quality team that will be in the top 10 come next May.

Back to Spurs..Good passing game strategy of Jol..bacfires..again..not by anything else...but just poor concentration..in the last 5 minutes that killed us.Spurs simply did not Gel..The Central pairing of Kaboul..n Gardner..is very average..Kaboul impress me a little with his forays in attack..but he clearly lacks match fitness n speed..Gardner..as usual..played a seemingly to relax n clumsy at times..his clumsiness n poor judgement let to the goal by Chopra. Stalteri did well on the left..for untill the hour mark..where his poor fitness was apparent..exploited well by Sunderland..Chimbonda..had a more easier task..I just hope he could contribute more going forward. Our midfield was fine in the beginning..Malbranque, Zokora, Jenas and Tainio..was tenaciously industrious..again only till the hour mark..the only thing that was evidently lacking was the creativity..this I believe going to be our main problem this season..we lack a decent playmaker in the middle of the park..Huddlestone..could fit that role..but he again is still raw and showed bits of immaturity in his defensive play. For the strikers..apart from Keano..who is lively..but tonight none of them was effective enough..there was no hunger to win in the body language of the strikers..Berbatov..seems still in practice match mood..Bent came in with vigour..but died off almost instantly..Defoe..was not given space and support.

The only positive thing I can think off from this match is that it is still just the 1st match of the season..37 to go..and if we can wake up and learn from this..the earlier the team should realize it is going to b a long hard season..My take is ..on wednesday.. Jol should decide on his main strike pair and stick to them...I suggest having Berbatov and Defoe upfront..pull Keane back as a creative midfielder in front of Zokora and Tainio in the middle..play a 3 central defense formation the likes of Kaboul,Rocha n Gardner..plus 2 wingbacks in Bale n Chimbonda working the flanks hard.

The Journey of Brand Beckham

English Superstar - David Beckham Biography by Me
I really thought I knew everything there is about the midfielder, but reading a David Beckham biography I found out more about the man behind the superstar. That's why I decided to write my own biography of David Beckham, to share to you the player behind the million dollar endorsements.
David Beckham Biography – Manchester United
David Beckham's story starts out near London, where he was born to a family of Manchester United fans. Despite being so close to clubs like West Ham United, Arsenal or Chelsea, Beckham's aim was always the Red Devils club. As luck would have it, on his fourteenth birthday, he was taken in the Manchester youth program, and he even starred next to the senior team...as a mascot.
Just 4 years later, he went on to play for Sir Alex Ferguson's senior squad, but his performance still needed fine tuning, so he was loaned to Preston North End for a year, returning to Manchester with some match experience. He quickly gained his place in the squad, despite his young age and became one of Manchester's most preeminent players during the following decade.
His most successful season with Manchester is undoubtedly 1999, when the club achieved the Treble (League, Cup and Champions League in the same season) and with David Beckham playing soccer like never before.
It's around then that he "trademarked" his famous free kicks and crosses and seeing some footage of David Beckham in action during that period will shed all doubts as to whether or not his superstardom status has a solid basis in his playing style, or just his good looks.
David Beckham Biography – 1998 World Cup Incident
His career did have a few rough moments, the most notable one being in 1998 with the English national side, at that year's World Cup. In the Second Round, where England would play Argentina, Beckham was taunted by Argentinean midfielder Diego Simeone and he responded with a swing towards the player, which earned him a red card for bad behavior on the pitch.
With England losing the match and being knocked out of the tournament, all blame fell on David Beckham, as the English newspapers put him against the wall and fired up some poisonous articles. Any other player would have stayed low, or even quit soccer, but David Beckham's ambition brought him back to the top. His performance with Manchester the following year, earned him back the respect of his fans and the entire world.
David Beckham Biography – Real Madrid
By the time David Beckham moved to Real Madrid in 2003, he was already a well-known star on the international stage. In his four years with the Madrid club he managed to win the Spanish league once, but his performance was deemed poorer than what he was playing at Manchester.
Many attributed this loss of form due to the new system found at Real and the fact that at Madrid he wasn't the "star" of the team anymore, since he was playing next to other internationally famous soccer players like Zinedine Zidane, Raul or Roberto Carlos.
David Beckham Biography – Los Angeles Galaxy
Moving to play in the United States for the Los Angeles Galaxy as of 2007 earned him one of the biggest contracts in the history of soccer and it was an offer David couldn't have refused, despite the fact that the soccer level in the United States is not as high as the one practiced in Spain.

Niv Orlian is the author and the owner of a Soccer Fans website that provides information on various topics related to soccer such as the history of soccer, rules, famous soccer players , real time news, statistics, and training guides.
Article Source: http://www.articlecube.com

BeckhaMania in L.A

Beckham cruises at the Galaxy by Alfred Johnson
Regardless of what many could say David Beckham continues ahead with his plans to bound himself with the Los Angeles Galaxy next month.
"There is no intention of backing out of the Galaxy deal or rejecting it," agent Simon Oliveira told the Associated Press on Sunday.
Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon told the media press that he would try to persuade the British star with an escape clause in Beckham' s Galaxy contract to withdraw from the deal.
"We have to sit down with him, his representatives and with Mijatovic (Madrid’s Sport director Predrag) and take a look at that clause and decide among us," said Calderon while at the French Open final in Paris. "But for me, I would love it if he stays in our club."
Alexi Lalas, Galaxy president and general manager told to the Associated Press there is no escape clause in Beckham's contract. "On the surface of it, it's a benign comment," Lalas said. "I don't doubt they would love nothing more than to have David Beckham continue with the team. Nothing has changed from our standpoint. We are eagerly awaiting his arrival."
Lalas expected Beckham to arrive in Los Angeles by mid-July once things have settled. Beckham has already bought a house in Los Angeles, Lalas said. Beckham’s contract with Real Madrid ends June 30 and he is set to move to MLS around July’s second week.
"In life and soccer, timing is everything," "He recognized an opportunity as did we. He saw a great opportunity for him and his family; a challenge to continue his professional soccer career. I don't think he's looked back since." Lalas added.

About the AuthorAlfred Johnson provides all sports fans with the most recent to up to you give you news information in the sports world. From China to Mexico and everywhere in between, professional soccer draws crazed crowds, amazing athletes and big business.

Soccer madness overseas

While soccer enjoys a devoted fan base around the globe, none love the so-called “Beautiful Game” with as much ferocity as fans in the England. In fact, footie enthusiasts in England may qualify as fanatics, rather than fans. If you think the crowds at American gridiron football games are passionate, you’d likely describe English soccer spectators as raving lunatics. This reverence explains why 80 percent of the money made from professional soccer is made in England alone.

Americans are finally catching soccer fever

Despite European fervor for the game Americans call soccer, professional soccer is a relatively new venture in the United States. Somehow professional soccer has yet to emerge from the shadows of basketball, baseball and gridiron football here. North American soccer fans will certainly hope the success of Major League Soccer will eventually make soccer the national sport. In fact, in the past twenty years, soccer has become the most popular participatory youth sport in North America.

Youth players from the U.S. head to England for training and pro careers

Inevitably, young players raised in the U.S. and Canada are growing up with a thirst for pro soccer splendor. With pro soccer still in its infancy in their own country, many are turning to study abroad soccer boarding school programs and international soccer training camps. Drawn to the sharp competitive edge of English teams and the unmatched keenness of English fans, most players will prefer to train in England.

Premiership football, the heart of soccer in England

The top teams in Europe play under the English Premiership Professional Football Club. The Premiership, as it is often referred to, is the world’s most profitable football (soccer) league, not to mention the most-watched sporting league in the history of professional sports. Aspiring pro soccer players the world over dream of playing in their midst.

The Premiership takes young international players under its wing

English soccer camps and schools mentored by Premiership teams, such as Blackburn Rovers FC and Bolton Wanderers FC, make this dream a reality for many players. The best of these programs, like those sponsored by EduKick, provide intense pro soccer development courses, as well as cultural exposure and strong high school or university level academics. In addition, soccer students training in England have an excellent chance to be noticed and recruited by The Premiership’s leading teams.

Get in the game!

If you’re a young soccer player, ready to take on the world of professional soccer, England is the place to be. You’ll broaden your cultural horizons, get the world’s finest soccer training, and have a shot at professional soccer glory. You’ve got to admit, that’s a hat trick of epic proportions.

Learn more about English soccer schools and enroll for the upcoming school year at the Edukick Web site.

Edukick’s mission is to provide intensive soccer training programs that also teach youngsters about cultural diversity and foreign languages. As professionals, soccer fanatics and fathers, Joseph Bilotta and Corey Zimmerman wanted to create a program that maximized the EduKick youth's time abroad; instilling a sense of independence and pride through experiencing international travel, structured language study, cultural excursions, and professional soccer training.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Joey_Bilotta
http://EzineArticles.com/?Premiership-Football-Draws-Fans-and-Players-From-Around-the-World&id=564665

English Premier League Goes Live on Your PC

Watching Sports Live On Your Pc Including English Premier League by Tony Pescatore

The world game football known, as soccer in America and football in England is a game that has so many emotions involved be it as a spectator or a player. It is comparable to baseball in the US, or hockey in Canada when it comes to the following of the game in Europe and South America. The popularity of the sport is growing in America. With the arrival of David Beckham playing for LA GALAXY the exposure of soccer in America can only be good for the country and the sport itself. The world will see how competitive the league is and other players worldwide will be more open minded to playing in this country.

As we known David Beckham played in Spain for Real Madrid and Manchester United in England. Myself being are soccer lover and not living in England and love watching the English Premier League it can at times be hard to follow your team unless you can watch them live on your television or computer. There are software programs that let you watch live sports on your computer such as soccer; baseball, basketball, American football, golf, hockey and so many other sports live for a one off lifetime fee. It does not matter if the game is played in America or whichever countries you can get to see the game live if you have the correct software.

I follow Liverpool so when it came to David Beckhams Manchester United I loved nothing more then beating them along with Arsenal. Chelsea are beginning to create a great rivalry and off course beating our hometown rival Everton is a great feeling. So being able to watch them live on my computer is great entertainment.

Be it the English Premier League, FA Cup, Championship League, Spanish Primera Liga, Italian Serie A I love watching the world game. Watching my favorite player Steven Gerrard in full flight playing for Liverpool is and amazing experience. I hope he stays at Liverpool until he decides to retire many years from now. Liverpool winning the FA Cup last year was sensational with Gerrard showing the way and what about the Championship League Final being 3 nil down at half time and end up winning. That was one of the most remarkable comebacks of all time. There is one thing missing for the past decade when it comes to Liverpool and that is winning the English Premier League title.

Following soccer is a game of extremes you can be so dominate and still lose all it takes is that one mistake or that one chance and the result can be totally different then you expect. It's a game where you have your heart in your mouth so to speak and I would not have it another way. I am grateful I can watch it live on my computer with family and friends.

Watching Sports Live On Your PC Including English Premier League

Tony Pescatore finds and writes helpful information on topics he believes in. After doing satellite TV for PC review I found the best available satellite TV for PC deal. Uncovering the weakness in your soccer team does require some analysing of the team as a whole and is something many junior soccer coaches struggle with.
A question often asked is "are there any specific tips available about analysing individuals in the team?"
Well, for most of the game the majority of your players will not have possession of the ball.
Therefore, they will spend most of their time taking up a position on the pitch to either support an attack or help with defensive duties.
This is one element where you should focus some of your attention when observing your players.
Remember the old soccer saying...Pass and Move...and it's stood the test of time.
The movement element of any soccer is critical. Players should constantly be on the move, looking to support an attack or equally build a defensive line to prevent an attack.
A valid observation for soccer coaches is to look at the six players who are closest to the ball and see if their positioning in relation to the ball is ideal AND are they in positions to actually influence the game.
By this I mean, while they may be close to the play, are they in a position where they could receive the ball?
Are they aware of what's around them and where the next phase of play can built?
What's their body positioning like, is it open to the field of play or closed, limiting their options?
These are all factors when assessing the support players around the player on the ball.
However, it's when your player gets the ball, and what they decide to do with it, that highlights the strengths or weakness in their decision making process.
This process is probably the most important aspect of their soccer skills and one that you should focus your attention on.
When working on analytical skills use these two key factors...
#1 Which option is chosen?
Does the player make the right decision based on the range of options available to them?
Do your players understand what's going on around them during the game, do they read the situation and assess the options open to them.
When they got the ball where did their first touch take them, did they create space and time for themselves or do they put themselves under immediate pressure?
I always ask my players to assess SOS!
SOS stands for Space, Opponent, Support.
When players are assessing what's on I ask them to first look for the space and take the ball into it, providing its there.
If space isn't available to exploit can they take on an beat their nearest opponent?
Finally, if they can't find space, or take on an opponent, then where is their support player.
This simple three step assessment is quick for the players to do and helps them to quickly make up their mind.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing and one all sideline coaches have to hand, remember to be impartial with your feedback and thoughts.
The right decision may have been to send a cross field pass, however, with the pressure mounting on the pitch your player may have taken another course of action equally useful.
#2 Technical Execution
After making their decision was it the right option to take and what was the level of technical proficiency of the skill?
It's one thing for a player to chose the right option... but it's another to execute the correct technique while under pressure.
You should keep a mental or physical note of your observations and use them to help guide your future coaching sessions.

Claim your complimentary copy of the 'Soccer Coaching Guide' provided by Junior Soccer Coach and receive hints, tips and techniques to improve your team’s performance AND your expertise as a coach. Soon, however, this synthetic material's popularity went the way of Disco music and the 8-track player used to listen to it on. On the soccer field, however, polyester lives on, and new ways of weaving this durable fabric have made it the material for designing comfortable, easy to care for uniforms.
Soccer uniforms are not simply color-matched clothes for the team to wear while playing the game. These clothing items should be considered as important as the ball choice and the cleats, since a great deal of the player's ability to give an optimal performance will depend on how their body is reacting to either the heat or to a cold chill. The correct selection of the soccer uniform can enhance or detract from the team's overall performance, and therefore deserves appropriate attention.
Polyester shares the spotlight with no other fabric on the soccer field. It is lightweight, durable and breathable, and allows for very little color bleeding, if any. CoolMax, designed by Dupont, has taken the old stand by of polyester, and created a hybrid, 4-channel spun fiber that wicks moisture quickly away from the body, and dries in an instant, leaving the player cool and comfortable even in the hottest game of the season. Now the old work horse, polyester, performs like a thoroughbred, making even the most inexperienced player look and feel like a champion.
No discussion on soccer uniforms would be complete without considering socks. Socks must be well fitted, and preferably made of one of today's high tech moisture wicking fiber blends, designed to help keep feet dry and blister free. It would be a shame to afford no time to proper sock fitting since the best cleats money can buy will not be able to compensate for the discomfort a pair of ill fitting socks can cause.
As in the jersey and short construction, polyester and its hybrid cousins stand out in performance and durability. When choosing soccer socks, look for the blend to list polyester first, or highest, among the named components. You will pay a bit more, sometimes double for soccer socks with a high polyester thread count, however choosing the better socks over those made of say, primarily acrylic, will pay off for you in happier player's feet. In a game where feet are of supreme importance, it is wise to invest a bit in the proper care and comfort of them.
If you are the parent of a youth soccer player, and for financial reasons the least expensive socks are being ordered for the team, it would be very prudent of you to purchase the upgraded polyester blend socks for your child. Just make sure they are an exact match. Ideally, ask the coach or team manager to order them for your child along with the entire uniform order, explaining you are willing to pay the cost differential.

Get all the latest in Soccer know how from the one and only true source at http://www.SoccerDetails.com. I know how it feels the first time I've coached a team of seven-year-old soccer kids and how much they can really test my patience, not to mention sanity as they run around kicking the ball like ants to a huge, white crumb. It feels strange at first, having to be stared at by a bunch of kids who they will know that I'm not the one in the field. Sounds wrong in a sense, right? But what is the deal about coaching?
Coaching is all about being a, well, 'coach' in the corporate world of handlers, front-liners and even a couple of benchwarmers biding their time to be given a chance to perform. I know how that feels when I go back to my regular day job. Some players are just MVP material, and some of them are just to support the MVP's so why bother sticking around? It sounds ironic when they say 'there is no I in team', but even the underachievers can be sore losers as well.
These are steps that can be done within the day, and no matter what, it takes determination to be a coach.
1. There is a WHOLE lot of talk these days about Corporate Team Building. There are many, many options: vacation packages, rope courses, on-going office games, ice-breakers, etc. Management can also purchase videos, books, and seminar packages to assist them in building up their organization into a team worthy of belonging. A little later I will give you some ideas of where you can go for information on these team-building tools.
2. The truth about motivation is waiting to be grasped! It is ripe and ready for you to put into action today. Don't settle for mind-numbing gibberish. Get practical in 3 small ways to begin looking forward to your alarm clock sounding off each morning before you huddle with the team.
3. Experience is the best thing despite of what course you graduated in. There is something about being a people person who knows how to stir the energetic side of one individual, and more so when you mix it up with an entire team.
4. To question a person by his or her performance is sometimes required, but never question their knowledge or their intelligence. Sadly, I have seen a few mistakes from past coaches who never seem to understand what a player has to go through to get the job right. It will lead to further aggravation and maybe even hostility. If you want the job done right, then go do it yourself. You'll see how it is to be at the receiving end and it will help your set a much better course for improvement.
5. Sending a player to the bench is probably the worse experience a coach has to go through, especially if your player is the top performer. In dealing with this kind of person, see to it that he spills his guts voluntarily. Egotism in a performer tends to make them lose their focus on even the smallest mistakes, then you can catch him or her red handed. Be firm, but understanding about it.
6. Don't allow your position to blind you from what you are supposed to do. Even coaches are human enough to think that they are far more superior, but only by rank. Even if you have been in their shoes when you were their age, it's better to dole out a piece of wisdom in order for them to realize that this will be for their own benefit.
7. Lastly, you should learn to trust yourself and your team. Decisions and performance are primarily your goals, and there are many of them to see if they could perform the task much more efficiently. So before you think about sending one member to the bench, have a good chat with him or her and see if they have any problems. If it's too personal, then just encourage them to do their best and it also helps to give them a good, encouraging slap on the back.
I guess there's all there is to it. Being a corporate drone myself, I know how important it is for a company to be successful, and we're all part of that success. Coaches are there not to make your work a little difficult just because you have either an attitude problem or not much of a performer, but they're the guides who will help you perform as hard as you can possibly can. You'll do them proud one of these days, as well as yourself.

Tim Maher is interested in personal development in all its facets and has read many books on this topic. There are nutritional guides that soccer players of all level must and should follow in order to put themselves in a beneficial position before matches.
Simple Nutritional Tips
1. Carbohydrates, Carbohydrates, Carbohydrates!!
I cannot stress this enough. Athlete performance in all sports is dependant on a diet that is rich in carbohydrates. As a soccer player it will improve your running performance and stamina on the field. The more carbohydrates a soccer player eats, the longer a player can perform at a top level.
The recommended time for consuming a large portion of carbohydrates is not the day of a match, but the day before. Most coaches, players and parents go by the old myth to prepare high carbohydrate meals the day of the game.
A balanced diet of 55-65% carbohydrates, 10-12% protein, 25-30% fat and plenty of fluids.
2. Protein Still Matters
After starting with carbohydrates it is only appropriate to mention protein. Protein is very important in your diet as a soccer player, however where you get it from is very important. Must athlete diets recommend protein, but none really go into explanation of where to get your protein.
While there is a lot of protein in ground beef, chicken and pork, the majority of this protein is combined with a large portion of fat. Fat is good but there are some fats that are not recommended.
My recommended fats are: omega fats from fish (salmon), lean ground beef and red meat (after fat removal).
A little protein a day helps to restore new fuel in the muscles fast and allowing you to perform at maximum level when your body needs it on the field.
3. A Lot of Fluids Never Hurts
Most athletes do not like water. It seems like we have it all the time and there is no taste. Unfortunately, we all need to consume a large amount of water. Luckily today there are many flavored drinks to help with the unbearable bland taste of water.
Whichever route you may take it is recommended that you drink fluids in these amounts listed below:
Before the match: 16oz – 20oz water 2 hours prior
During the match: 7oz – 10oz of Gatorade or similar every 15-20 minutes
After the match: 20oz of water or equivalent for every pound of body mass
These liquid amounts could vary during the weather condition in which you play. During the summer and warm times you will need more water. If you are playing in cold temperatures you should still follow this guideline above
Overall, it is very important for soccer athletes to maintain a well-balanced nutritional regime during the season. It has been proven that soccer athletes who follow a guide like this or similar, that you will see great results on the field! http://www.soccerrecipes.com

The Symbol And Pride Of All Team Soccer

Soccer Uniform, Colors In Play (Ezine Ready)
Author: M. Jedediah
Nothing is more important for a soccer fan, than his team's colors and badge. In the soccer uniform, the club's badge is on the chest, placed close to the heart. In the nineteenth century, soccer uniforms had long sleeved shirts and they used knickerbockers that covered the knees in place of the shorts used today, and long socks. When television was black and white, the color of the soccer uniforms were very important, when one team played in light uniforms the other team had to play in dark. In this way, viewers could tell which team was which, and also the players were able to tell where their team mates were on the field. The basic soccer uniform is made up of shirts (jerseys), shorts, socks and shoes. The goalkeeper has a slightly different uniform from the rest of the team; the jersey has to be a different color as he is the only one allowed to use his hands in the game. The difference in the goalkeeper's uniform is necessary so that viewers and players can easily recognize which player he is. The goalkeepers usually use special gloves for defending the ball. The referee and his assistants also need different color uniforms so that they aren't mistaken for any other player in the field. Players also use protections such as shin pads which can also be included as part of the uniform. Before uniforms were made of heavy material, when wet with sweat or rain, they would stick to the player's body. Nowadays, soccer uniforms are made from light synthetic material that doesn't stick when wet and doesn't weigh as much as the old uniforms. The design of the soccer uniforms was quite different in the old days compared to today's design. The shirts had a collar similar to a polo shirt, with laces or buttons on them. In the more modern uniforms the collars are something like modern T-shirts. The shorts today are very different from the ones used in the nineteenth and early twentieth century, quite shorter and much lighter than before. The socks are quite the same today, but some socks have a few details like lines, the club badge or name. Today, there are quite a few famous uniforms, like the Brazilian national team, which are famous all over the world, especially among the youngsters. The use of these uniforms as a marketing strategy has become quite common and pretty effective, with sponsors on club or national uniforms. The amount of official replica soccer uniforms sold is quite big due to marketing campaigns, the passion of the fans towards their national team or the club they support. The uniform manufacturers also use the name of famous players to sell more. Names like Ronaldinho, Beckham, and Zidane are very much used so that more and more uniforms are sold. The clubs invest highly in marketing their own brand name and their players' names as a way of popularizing the brand and the club or national team. Some clubs and national teams make special editions of their uniforms for important games or anniversaries. The use of soccer uniforms in marketing has helped the main brands of sports clothes and these uniforms, especially the jerseys are used by young people to go out to parties, going to shopping centres and even on dates.
Source: Submit Articles at ArticlesBase.com
About the Author:Get all the latest in Soccer know how from the one and only true source at http://www.SoccerDetails.com. Since his retirement he has suffered drink and drug problems, which were particularly highlighted in his goal celebration during the 1994 USA football world cup, and his subsequent failed drug test for the banned substance Ephedrine. Towards the end of his career, Maradona suffered a number of lows, failing a drug test prior the 1994 World Cup in 1991 whilst playing for Napoli and being banned from playing football for 15 months.
Doctors denied that 46-year-old Maradona had attempted suicide after being admitted to hospital in Buenos Aires on 25th March 2007. They say his latest problem relates to ongoing treatment for acute hepatitis related to his alcohol abuse. Maradona is currently obeying the Doctors’ wishes, despite allegedly being admitted against his own wishes. We just hope that the later stages of his life will not follow in the same pattern as another troubled football genius, George Best, who never did win his battle against his own addictions.
This is another in a long line of problems Maradona has suffered since retiring from football. After two short unsuccessful coaching spells in his native Argentina with Deportivo Mandiyu of Corrientes and with Racing, Maradona returned to play once again, but retired from football in 1997 due to failing another drug test. Since then he has been battling his cocaine addiction, and, in 2005 had a stomach stapling operation to help him lose weight. Since then, it seemed Maradona was getting back to his old self. He started playing football again, but Argentine sources have recently reported that he was considering visiting a slimming clinic in Switzerland, and that the central bank of Argentina have been investigating alleged irregularities with his accounts.
It must be hard for football players, and professionals in any sport who are at the top of their game, with the world seemingly at their feet, to have the irreversible passage of time overtake them, leaving them feeling empty and that their lives no longer have any meaning. Many stars stay on in their sport, but perform other roles which they find rewarding. But to have something that they love so much, that is everything to them, taken away, must be a very bitter pill to swallow.

John Simms owns and runs http://www.undergoals.com a site dedicated to betting on Under 2.5 Goals football markets. Although Basketball was created in the United States, and Soccer in Europe, the two have become increasingly popular in both countries.
Both sports require the athletes to be in shape and fit, but endurance might be more important among soccer players, while exquisite skill is the more important factor in basketball. Many of the major differences between soccer and basketball are being subdued, due to the fact that basketball is becoming more and more popular in Europe, and soccer in the United States.
In the United States, most of the sports television broadcasts on network TV are of sports other than soccer. You generally need to have cable to catch a glimpse of a professional soccer game, and even then only a portion of the games are broadcast, compared to a majority of games of other sports. In Europe, soccer is a favorite pastime, and most of the games are broadcast over other sporting events such as basketball.
However, the United States is becoming more involved in the soccer world since they introduced the World Cup, and maybe the gap between football and futbol is finally diminishing. It is still more likely than not that more American’s, if asked to name 10 professional basketball players, then 10 professional soccer players, would have a much easier time naming the basketball players.
The fact still remains that American’s simply do not consider soccer to one of the traditional, all-American sports that it does football, basketball, and baseball. Regardless of the fact that soccer has been around and played for many, many years, much like the sports that are considered to be favorite pastimes in the United States, it just hasn’t been played religiously in the United States for individuals to simply give up our sports that consist mainly of players throwing balls, to players kicking balls instead.
It’s projected that within a few more years, the exposure of soccer in the United States, as well basketball in Europe and other countries, will begin to gain to popularity and respect as a sport well played by athletes who train just as hard as any other professional athlete. The media can help to play a huge role in broadening the horizons of soccer by simply making broadcasts of games more readily available and easier to access, as well as on other channels rather than only cable.

Lanny Hintz writes about NBA Coupons,Footlocker coupons and Fans Edge Coupons
Article Source: http://www.articlecube.com

Know The History Behind The Worlds Favorite Sport

The History of Football by Ckint Jhonson
For as long as football (soccer) has been around, football fans have also been around. The most significant consequence: it is appreciated that the football World Cup gathers the second greatest number of viewers, after the Olympics. For instance, the World competition of 2006 brought together more than three million spectators, and these were only those who got the chance of a seat in the stadiums. Just imagine the number of those who gathered around a TV in order to watch the matches; how useful free football online would have been! And the case of the World Cup is not singular; other football tournaments have their own faithful fans and viewers, many of whom would surely be grateful for the occasion of watching their favorite teams in action while the matches are broadcasted live. Fortunately, the latest improvements in live broadcasting allow football fans to watch live and free soccer online. Obviously, the reasons why free football online has been made possible are closely related to the popularity of this particular kind of sports event.
Football (or soccer) has not always been as popular as it is these days – and it is exceptionally popular since free soccer online is considered. Although the so called “games with a ball” (resembling football) have a long history, it was only during the second half of the 19th century that the birth of football was registered. England is the location where soccer, as we know it today (with a few minor changes), was officially born. Surely, there are stories relating that, approximately three thousand years ago, a game named “Kemari” played with a ball filled with sand was widely practiced in Japan. It did resemble football, but the number of the players on the field was only eight and even less at times. The same, it is estimated that in China, around the epoch of 2500 B.C., a game named “tsu chu”, played to pay homage to the emperor, developed up until the interval of 230 B.C.-220 A.D. The game involved a number of players trying to stop one another from kicking a stuffed ball (presumably, it was stuffed with feathers) through an opening between two bamboo stems.
However, the Football Association, the one which is “responsible” for the commencement of the game then called “Association football”, was established only as late as 1863, in London. The origins of English soccer can be identified back in the Middle Ages, when a type of mob football was practiced, as a competition between villages or towns. The purpose was to bring a ball at the central public square of the village/town of the opponents. While the game was very popular, it was also very violent, since very few play rules had been established. As a consequence, the first royal ban (by King Edward II) on the practice of this game was registered at the middle of the 14th century. The bans were maintained for the next three centuries; nonetheless, the game was still practiced. We can be sure that by 1863 a number of more accurate play rules had been adopted (in fact, 17 years earlier the first play regulations had been written down). The label of “soccer” was coined in the 1880s, and it is an abbreviation from “association”. Nowadays, Americans use the term widely so as to distinguish soccer from American football.
When the second half of the 20th century came (and along with it came the media), soccer began being popularized worldwide. The first World Cups had already taken place (ever since 1930) and the fans began swelling their numbers so that today the need to cover their demands (as spectators) by every legal means possible – and free football online is one of these means – is exploited at the maximum. Unfortunately, not all football fans allow a monthly subscription to rather costly satellite broadcasted programs in order to watch live their favorite matches.
Free soccer online is one of the alternative methods of saying that the history of football is still in the making. This skill requires a great deal of practice, and a certain portion of muscle training and memory that needs to be acquired over time. With the proper soccer training gear, this goal can be accomplished, while improving other aspects of a player’s soccer skills as well.
New technology in the field of sports training is constantly improving and expanding, but growing as a player ultimately comes down to the fundamentals and repetition. One soccer training device eliminates much of the time spent on retrieving out-of-play balls, allowing practice to become easier as a solo activity, rather than having a constant need to either chase balls yourself, or have a partner do it for you. This simple training device allows more time to be spent on practicing the basics of kicking, and goal placement.
Strength and endurance is another key aspect for all players to possess in order to be optimal soccer players, since a great majority of the 45 minute halves is spent running up and down the soccer field. The ability to outrun an opponent is crucial, and another soccer training device can aide players in doing just that. A rubber band-like cord that ties around the athletes waste, and is secured into the ground, offers resistance training and explosiveness when it comes to racing an opponent on the soccer field.
For some of the skills necessary to become an improved soccer player, training gear may not even be necessary. Going back to the skills learned as a child when first taught how to play the game of soccer, may be some of the best training equipment one can have. Practicing juggling and controlling the ball, quick feet to ball movements, and even just dribbling the ball while running can be some of the best training gear an athlete can have. The saying goes “Practice makes perfect”, but essentially, it’s more along the lines that “Practice make permanent”. Repetition and control over the soccer ball without even having to think about it is what will make anyone a better soccer player.

Dana Bradley writes about Pros sport Memorabilia coupons and Fans Edge Coupon Codes.
Article Source: http://www.articlecube.com

The New Champions League

New Ideas for the UEFA Champions League by Ally White

European football maximum authority UEFA, established that they will consider awarding a place in the UEFA Champions League to Cup winners from 2009. The proposal could see the winner of each country's main triumph tournament included in a new end-of-season play-off system or even granted an automatic berth to Europe's elite club competition.

There are rumors of many other ideas such as this one that are being discussed in the UEFA headquarters, one of them is that the cup winners from countries with more than one qualifying team for the Champions League would go into the tournament. Ideas such as this will go before the UEFA’s new strategic council in June and a final decision will be taken in September.

It is still not something to be excited about for other countries since it would need the agreement of the clubs, leagues and national associations so if they support it, it will go forward or it might just disappear. A number of clubs have already expressed an interest in this situation.

UEFA's new strategic committee will have representatives from European's football governing body, the players' union FIFPro, the leagues and the clubs. It will also be asked to look at an idea put forward by UEFA president Michel Platini that would see the lowest qualifying teams from England, Italy, Spain, Germany, France and Portugal playing off against each other for three places in the group stage of the Champions League.

Ally White is a top senior copy writer for the online bookmaker www.instantactionsports.com/uk
Feel free to reprint this article in its entirety on your site, make sure to leave all links in place and do not modify any of the content.

Article Source: http://www.articlecube.com

Develop Your Own Soccer Business

How To Make Money From SoccerBy Alan McLean
The world of soccer is a great niche to tap into to make money. There are a few ways to do it, and I'd like to cover 3 of them, including the technique I personally use.
I love soccer for 2 reasons. Firstly it's good fun! I love playing (I’m not that fast these days I might add!) and love watching.
Secondly I love soccer because it provides an online market which is more than willing to spend money, and in order to grab some of that money, you simply need to offer the market what it wants. The personalization of soccer shirts may be most obvious, but someone who pays for that will pay for all sorts of other stuff to be personalized.
Did you know that 'personalized soccer shirts' as a phrase is searched for online a huge amount of times each and every month? This is highly targeted traffic, because when someone types that phrase into a search engine, we know what they are after - personalized soccer shirts! We don't need to guess what they want.
So, how can we profit from this market? Firstly we can be an affiliate for a company that offers the product. The advantages are that we don't need any stock, we don't need a website, we just drive traffic to the site, and earn a commission from any sales generated. Those commissions can add up very quickly.
The only downside with this method is that you are competing with all the other affiliates - great for the company, not so good for all the affiliates!
The second method is to set up our own operation to provide personalized soccer shirts and other gear. The obvious advantage is that we get to keep all the profit, but the equally obvious disadvantage is that we have to pay out lots in advance, for the stock, website creation, traffic generation, etc, etc. That's why I wouldn't use that method.
The third method is the one I use. You don't need a website or upfront expense - in fact it can be run and maintained at zero cost. It's providing information. Information is easy to produce and distribute with today's technology. People ready to pay for personalization of soccer gear will absolutely be interested in information which tells them how to get the cost covered for free!
How about information which tells them how to earn a lot of money from the world of soccer, so they can buy as much personalization as they'd ever want! It really is a simple way to make money online, and once the work is set up, it continues to work on autopilot!
It works for me, and there is absolutely no reason why it shouldn't be working for you today, so hopefully I've excited you about how you can make money from the world of soccer.
I discovered How To Make Money From Sport, from a simple step by step guide that I use over and over again to profit from any sport - for just $7. The key is to make the step-over look like a shot, pass, or lunge.
Another example...
2. "Double Scissors"
Step 1: Begin by dribbling the ball between your feet.
Step 2 : Place your right foot to the right of the ball and swing your left leg in a counter clockwise direction from the inside of the ball to the outside of the ball.
Step 3 : Repeat in the other direction with the other foot.
Step 4 : This is an inside-to-outside step-over with the left foot. From here you will move the ball back to the right with the outside of the right foot and accelerate in this direction.
You can perform and teach these soccer moves to the front of the ball, front side scissors, or from the back with the step-over mostly behind the ball, back side scissors.
Key Point: The key is to make your opponent believe the step-over is truly a move to the left.
Now go out there and try it and come up with your own variations. Good Luck!
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Andre Botelho is a recognized authority on the subject of soccer moves.
His web site, Youth Soccer Drills, provides a wealth of informative soccer articles, resources and tips for soccer coaches, parents and players.
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Andre_Botelhohttp://EzineArticles.com/?Awesome-Soccer-Moves-How-To-Learn-and-Teach&id=329951

How The Game Is Played...Look And Feel

A Soccer DVD Can Help Take Your Game To New HeightsBy Samantha Davis
Soccer is the world's most popular game, and consequently there is no shortage of books, videos, and DVD's that focus on the game. The soccer World Cup, which is the world soccer tournament that goes occurs every four years, gets more viewers than any other sporting event in the world. Soccer is such a big deal in some countries that it has caused political tensions between nations when their teams have played against each other in the World Cup. So why is soccer such a great hobby for everyone? For one thing, it does not require much equipment to play soccer, you just need a soccer ball to kick around and a couple friends, and some sort of goal that you can use to kick the ball into. The rules are rather simple and obvious, you just kick the soccer ball around and try to kick it into the other team’s goal to score, and you can’t touch the soccer ball with your hands.

Kicking a soccer ball around is something that can be addicting and you can spend hours and hours doing it without getting bored. You can do different tricks with your like dribbling and or seeing how many times you can kick the soccer ball without letting it hit the ground. You can practice tricks like the bicycle where you jump and kick it sideways or kick it in the air while falling onto your back. You can do that one trick where you roll the ball with one foot onto the back of your other leg and then use that other leg to kick it forward, from behind, over your head; that’s one of my favorites. It makes people think I am a good soccer player when I do that one, even though I am not.

One nice thing about soccer or a soccer hobby is that it definitely keeps you in shape with all of that running you have to do, and you have to be in pretty good shape to do well at soccer. Playing soccer is not like a light jog where you can just take it easy the whole time. You are at a full, dead sprint over and over. It’s fun too, so it doesn’t feel like you are just working out, you are playing a game instead. The last soccer team I played on was an indoor soccer team. I thought I was in shape, but then I could only last for a couple minutes before I had to take a breather, each time I went in.

One of my earliest memories of playing soccer was when I was on a little league soccer team as a kid. I was playing defense and all I did was kick the ball as hard as I could to the other end of the field every time it came to me. I also remember afterwards, I ate a piece of chocolate candy with the wrapper still on it. I didn’t swallow it, but it made me sick and had to quit dribbling my soccer ball on the way home from the soccer game, while I puked because the feeling in my mouth was so disgusting. I think my body was worked up from the sprinting in the soccer game as well and my stomach was tight. It still makes me sick to think about that experience all of these years later. But I sure had fun as a kid playing on my soccer team and had a lot of good experiences. I also still have a lot of good memories from my soccer days as a kid. It was fun being the center of attention as I kicked the ball around each time it came to me. I wasn’t that good though, and I played defense, so I usually just gave the soccer ball a nice boot to the other side of the field each time it came to me.

There are a lot of drills you can do with a soccer balls, just on your own to become a better soccer player. You can just practice dribbling, as mentioned above, where you just kick the soccer ball back and forth between your legs as you run. Once you get good at dribbling the soccer ball, you can show it off when you play games, but dribbling the soccer ball and cutting past people. Or, you can practice kicking and aiming the soccer ball at a certain point on a wall or practice kicking it into the goal or passing with the side of you foot, so you can get your aim better and score more goals when you play. You can dribble the soccer ball with your feet while weaving through cones. You can practice heading the soccer ball and aiming with your head. For some reason soccer player’s favorite thing to do is hit the soccer ball with their heads.

This article was written by Peter Jay, Owner, President, and CEO of Variety Access, Your Online Hobby Store and More! In 1995 only 25 000 tourists visited South Africa. FIFA expects some 350 000 foreign tourists in 2010. The prediction is that the soccer fans will spend R10bn on meals, accommodation, transport and merchandise, he said.
“The influx of foreign capital is great, however, insignificant in comparison to the huge spin-offs the publicity will have for South Africa”, says Lodewyk Joubert, CEO of Syndation. “Over a billion people are expected to follow the month-long tournament between the world’s top 32 soccer playing nations”.
Andrew Golding, CE of the Pam Golding Property Group confirms that the potential spin-offs are far-reaching. As soccer enjoys a large following, countries that have not been exposed to South Africa before will be in 2010.
“Just imagine what will be promoted on TV during this period”, Joubert says. “Images of our natural beauty – of Table Mountain, the Kruger National Park and the bushveld, the Southern Cape coastline, the Kalahari and a few other places will be brought to billions of households around the globe.
If we do this correctly, it will be an advertising campaign for luxury lifestyle ownership in South Africa on a scale that has never been seen before!”
Jose Ventura, MD of Pam Golding VIP, made the connection recently that the future of luxury lifestyle ownership lies in stress-free fractional ownership.
"There are clear and distinct differences between property syndications and high-end fractional ownership. The two should not be confused”, says Stephen Rademeyer, of Syndation. “High-end fractional ownership is a fully managed service with international and local exchange options – the difference is the hassle-free component which is generally not found with normal property syndication.”
A lot can be learnt from previous World Cups and other tournaments of that magnitude such as the Olympic Games. Greece did not promote the property market to the extent that Barcelona and Sydney did. The latter capitalised on the publicity and promoted Spain and Australia as great places to tour and to own a second home.
Similarly the property prices in Paris escalated by between 60-100% within the first year after the 2002 World Cup in France.
Butana Komphela, chairperson of parliament's sport and recreation committee warned that the experience of the Soccer World Cup in Japan and South Korea showed the job creation forecasts were hugely overestimated. However, even Mbembe agrees the World Cup will boost investment and tourism in the longer term - as long as South Africa can utlise the promotional value the world cup would render.
Lourens van Wyk (Industrial Psychologist)
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=L_Van_Wykhttp://EzineArticles.com/?Will-The-2010-World-Cup-Soccer-Inflate-The-of-Value-Property-In-SA?&id=495874

Grooming The Future Soccer Stars

Soccer Camps Go Global - Language Immersion Travel Camps Expand the World - View of Young PlayersBy Joey Bilotta
In the past twenty-five years, soccer has become the most popular youth sport in North America. Many of these young players have carried their love of the sport into adulthood, resulting in the debut of Major League Soccer, America’s first professional soccer league, in 1996.
Youth and professional soccer in the U.S. continue to grow more popular and more competitive, increasing the demand for specialized soccer training programs. Many of these programs offer training abroad as a way to tap into the fiercely competitive international soccer scene. The best of these soccer camps offer more than world-class soccer training. They foster cultural diversity, maturity, and independence in young soccer players.
Unique experience for young soccer players
Soccer camps have become available in countries around the world. Locations like Spain, France, China, Brazil, Greece, Holland, Italy and Germany have opened their doors to American soccer players. An international soccer program has recently opened in Israel as well. These international camps combine professional soccer training with a full-immersion language experience.
Camps can range from 2 weeks to several months. Young soccer players can live and train under constant supervision while learning to appreciate the unique culture of their host country.
Security: A must for travel abroad programs
If you are considering an international soccer camp for your child, safety should be a big concern. A good international soccer camp will have a clear security plan in place. In Israel, for example, EduKick students will train in safety at Kannot Youth Village, a secure, gated, educational and agricultural youth facility. Professional security will be provided 24/7 and accompany the players on all outings.
Full-immersion language instruction
The time young players spend at camp should be more than a vacation. An important part of the soccer experience abroad is learning foreign languages. Hearing and speaking another language constantly is the best way for your child to gain bi-lingual fluency. Bi-lingual instructors, competition with foreign teams, and structured language classes are integral parts of the EduKick experience.
World-class soccer training
Of course, the ultimate goal of a soccer training camp is top-notch soccer training. Look for highly-educated, experienced coaches with coaching credentials. The best coaches have experience playing at the professional level also.
The international field is highly competitive, offering a level of training that is unmatched in the U.S. When choosing an international soccer camp for your child you should accept no less than the best in soccer coaching. Look for international soccer training that focuses on strength and conditioning, technical precision, tactical development and sports psychology.
Enriching the lives of young soccer players
EduKick founders, Joseph Bilotta and Corey Zimmerman, traveled to Europe with their soccer team mates as teenagers, inspiring them to open soccer training camps all over the world as adults.
Remembering their travel abroad experience, Bilotta said, “I remember feeling a sense of confidence upon returning home, I knew that I was wiser and it made me feel special."
EduKick international soccer training can have the same impact on the life of your child. Visit EduKick's Website today to find the perfect international soccer camp for your young player.
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Joey_Bilottahttp://EzineArticles.com/?Soccer-Camps-Go-Global---Language-Immersion-Travel-Camps-Expand-the-World---View-of-Young-Players&id=487393

The Africans Are Progressing by Leaps and Bounds

African Football: Making Giant StridesBy Matthew Hernon
Africa's greatest footballer over the past 50 years will be announced in February next year. Not surprisingly, the front-runners for the award are past players; George Weah and Abedi Pele. The former of the two won championships in France and Italy, as well as being named as the World's best player in 1995. The latter collected four French titles, appeared in two European cup finals and received the African footballer of the year award three times.
Following on from their success, African soccer stars are now playing a more prominent role in Europe's top leagues than ever before. The highest scorers in the English Premiership are Nigeria's Nwankwo Kanu and Didier Drogba of the Ivory Coast, who was recently described by his boss Jose Mourinho as currently the best striker in the world.
"At the moment, I don't think there is anybody better in the world scoring or playing like him."
It is a similar situation in France, with the three leading marksmen all coming from the World's second largest continent. Samuel Eto'o would also, surely be number one in Spain if he hadn't got injured in late September. (He is still in the top ten, despite having already missed the majority of the season)
It is not just up front where African players are thriving. Real Madrid have looked like a much more solid outfit in the past few months and one of the main reasons for that has been the form of Mali international; Mahamadou Diarra. In England, Ghanaian powerhouse Micheal Essien, has been a revelation for Chelsea, as the club attempts to win it's third consecutive title. There have been many other African stars who have been making headlines for their performances and the most pleasing aspect is that so many countries are represented; from Guinea to the DR Congo. The recent World Cup qualifiers emphasised the fact that football is developing throughout the continent and teams like Cameroon and Nigeria can no longer have things their own way. That is a trend that is likely to continue and that can only be good for the game.
That is not to say there aren't still problems; there are, in particularly from an economic and political standpoint. Also, on the international front, when it comes to tactics and organisation, European and South American sides are still far superior. In terms of individual talent, however, the future has never looked brighter. Youngsters like Chinedu Ogbuke of Nigeria and Morocco's Adil Chihi are constantly linked with the world's top teams. By the time the next World Cup comes around, there is every reason to believe that the number of African players at clubs like Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid will have increased further.
George Weah and Abedi Pele showed these young men that it was possible to go to Europe and achieve great things. For that, they deserve a lot of credit. One of them is likely to be rewarded by being named as Africa's best over the past half century. Aside from maybe Eto'o, there is likely to be little competition from those still playing. In ten years, though, it could be a very different story. Many African stars have the ability to go on and become world greats and if a similar award is given a decade from now, there is likely to be many more contenders.
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Matthew_Hernonhttp://EzineArticles.com/?African-Football:-Making-Giant-Strides&id=364141

The World Unites

The World SoccerBy Alejandro Guevara Onofre
INTRODUCTION:
I studied drawing at scool for many years, but I did not like it very much. My favourite subject at school were the olympic sports. I remember when I was a child and I played soccer with my friends. My best memory was when El Salvador,a small Central American country, qualified at the World Cup in 1982.I did not think “ES” defeat Mexico, sixth place in the FIFA World Championship in 1970.
Between 1978 and 1989, El Salvador had one of the worst civil war in the modern history of Latin America.Unfortunately, more than 70,000 people were killed by anti-communist dictatorships and marxist rebels.
Certainly, I was a big fan of Salvadoran soccer. I once said: “ES ganarà el Mundial ( El Salvador will be win the FIFA Soccer World 1982..!).However, the only thing that I clearly remember is that Hungary beat El Salvador 10-1 in the World Cup in Spain…Good Bye ES…!
Like many people, I think that soccer is “passion” in the world since 1910. When Cameroon, ex French colony in Africa, won its first gold medal at the XXVII Summer Olympics Games in Australia (2000)…Yaoundè, the capital city of Cameroon, was carnival for days.Cameroon was the second African country to win the gold olympic…
Unfortunately, Liberia was the nightmare of the Third World…From 1980 to 2005, more than 180,000 people were killed by dictatorships and AIDS…Currently, the poverty is a plague…Its percapita income of $ 80 a year is one of the worst in the World History. Hundreds of thousands of Liberian people fled the country. Like neighboring Sierra Leone, the African country has one of the highest number of orphans in the Africa in relation to its population.
Fortunately, Liberia is home to George Manneh Oppong Ousman Weah, one of the World`s most famous and charismatic players. In 1995 the FIFA selected George Weah as the best footballer of the Year.Certainly, he became a “World Star” in the 1990s.Like Iman (former super-model from Somalia) and Dikembe Mutombo (basketball player from the Democratic Republic of Congo), George Weah is an icon in the African continent. Since then, he made a great contribution to Liberian human development. Currently, George Weah is UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. He was national team captain for many years, but his country did not qualifity for the FIFA Football World. Ironically, Liberia was not one of the best teams of Africa in the 20th Century.
In 1994 Bolivia`s qualification for the finals was one of the surprises in the Third World sport. Under the leadership of Marco Etcheverry, Bolivia beat Brazil 2-0 in the Pre-World Cup in La Paz, Bolivia`s capital. I remember that Etcheverry, best known for his nickname “El Diablo”, was the idol of millions of Bolivians. It was one of the greatest sporting moments in Bolivian history since 1978. At that time, Bolivia, under the leaderships of Guadalupe Yañez, qualified for the FIBA Women`s World Championship in Seoul, South Korea´s capital.
In my opinion, the FIFA World Championship is a world without frontiers. Ferenc Puskas, was born on April, 1926, in Budapest, Hungary, made his debut in the friendly against Austria at the age of only fifteen…In the past Century, Puskas represented both Hungary, a former communist State, and Spain. At the time, Santamaria played for Uruguay and Spain. Traditionally American players have Latin American and African roots: Hugo Perez (El Salvador), Tab Ramos (Uruguay), Claudio Reyna (Argentina), Josmer Altidore (Haiti) and Freddy Addu (Ghana). Today Gerald Asamoah, was born in Accra (Ghana), is one of the best footballers in Germany at the moment. While Alex (Alessandro) Santos, was born in Brazil, is a Japanese player.Santos played many times for Japan, including appearances at the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
Personally, I think that this Century will be an era of “Sports Miracles” in the Third World. Cote D`Ivoire, best known as Ivory Coast, qualified for the FIFA Soccer World 2006…Angola made its debut in Germany…Trinidad-Tobago made its debut in the World Cup…Paraguay won the silver medal in football in the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens.
CHRONOLOGY:
1930: FIFA World Cup in Montevideo, the capital city of Uruguay, one of the most development countries in the 1930s.The final ranking:1-Uruguay,2-Argentina, 3-Yugoslavia,4-USA,5-Chile, 6-Brazil,7-France,8-Paraguay,9-Romania, 10-Peru, 11-Belgium, 12-Bolivia, 13-Mexico.
1934: World Cup in Rome.
